James - it might be helpful if you give us her parents & where Nellie lived in Allamakee county. Often young women taught in a school near to where they grew up. We might be able to narrow it down somewhat.

Also, if she married, what was her married name? Most of the time after marriage, a woman no longer taught school, but it's possible that if she has an obituary, it will at least give a township where she taught.
