Mark,
The Beedy family was frequently in the Postville newspapers. I have a website where many transcriptions of the early Postville Review have been posted by me and other contributors. A search of Allamakee co. for Beedy returns over 70 'hits'. If you haven't already visited the Iowa Old Press website, please do. There are lots of tidbits about the Beedy's in Postville.... John Beedy's obit in 1887, notes when N.J. Beedy was chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 1882, details of N.J.'s funeral procession in 1891, and lots more.
