BURMESTER, GADE, BISPING, SIEVERS, STAGGEMEYER

William H.C. Burmester passed to his eternal rest on Saturday evening, March 6th, at about six o'clock at his home in Wheatland, at the age of 75 years. In April, 1945 he suffered a light stoke from which he never fully recovered.

Mr. Burmester was born in Rieste, Hannover, Germany, Nov. 10,1872, a son of the late Christian and Dorothea Burmester, nee Gade. In April 1883 he came to America with his parents, one brother and one sister, and made his home with relatives for some time.

He was confirmed on April 18, 1886 in the St. John's church of Union City Township by the late Rev. Jaco Maierle, and in 1890 he bought the farm in this community on which he lived until the time of his death.

On the 25th day of May, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Bisping. This union was blessed with four children, all of whom are living. Surviving are his wife; Mrs. Carson (Margaret) Sievers, of Kenyon, Minn.; Louise, at home; Elmer of La Crosse, Wis.; and Mrs. Armin (Nora) Staggemeyer, Wheatland; five grandchildren, and one brother, Herman Burmester, of Caledonia, Minn., and a large number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home on March 10th at 1:30 p.m. and at 2 o'clock from St. John's Evangelical Church, the Rev. E. Roth officiating. Burial was made in the Wheatland cemetery.

Pall bearers were six of his neighbors, namely Louis Breeser, William Ehlers, Geo. W.C. Meyer, Leo Fruechte, John Wuennecke, and Aug. C. Wuennecke.

Relatives that came from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Carsen Sievers and daughter, Kenyon, Minn.; Mrs. Wm. Hachfeld, William and Louis Bisping, of Faribault, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Burmester, La Crosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Thies, Caledonia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Aug. C. Wuennecke and Mrs. Minnie Menerich, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
