Same paper, date & page:
DIED - At his residence in South Lansing, on Wednesday, of Diabetes, Francis Coard, aged 71 years, 10 months and 11 days.

The deceased was born of Scotch parentage, in County Down, Ireland, subsequently made his home and was married at St. Andrew's, N.B. and removed to Robinstown, Me., in 1833.

In the year 1859 he removed with his family to DeSoto and in 1865 to Lansing, where he has since resided. By trade he was a ship blacksmith, and a mechanic of unusual skill.

For twenty years "Grandpa Coard" as he was familiarly known to everybody was infirm and feeble, yet his strength of will was so great, notwithstanding the inroads of the disease which caused his death, that he retained much of his mental and physical vigor until within an hour before his death.

Five of his eight children are living, and his venerable companion, to whom he would have been united fifty years had he lived until May 4th, survives him.

The remains were interred in the Cemetery yesterday afternoon.

Died - At his residence in South Lansing, on Wednesday March 13th, of Diabetes, Francis Coard, aged 71 years, 10 months and 11 days.

The deceased had been a resident of Lansing for many years and was very well known. His place of nativity was County Downs, Ireland, of Scotch parentage. He came to this country in 1833, and in 1859 came West to DeSoto, and several years afterwards to Lansing where he has since resided.

He had been an invalid for twenty years or more, yet he bore his affliction bravely until within a short time of his death.

His wife and five children survive him, and had he lived until the coming 4th of May they would have gathered around the family fireside to have celebrated with him the golden wedding anniversary.
