Marinus Anthonsen (a native of Denmark) and Pearl Garoutte (born in southwest Missouri) were married in Anita, Iowa, on December 18, 1920. After farming a few years in that area, they moved to the Pennsylvania/New York area. They returned to Fontanelle in late fall of 1937. They farmed one mile south and one-half mile west of Fontanelle until the spring of 1945. They moved nine miles east of Greenfield and lived there two years before moving to Washington State.
They returned to retire in Greenfield in 1970 to be near their only Daughter, June (Anthonsen) Schmidt, and her family. They loved at 107 NW Grant.
Marinus died in 1987 and Pearl died in 1994. Both are buried in the Greenfield Cemetery.
