HENRY AHNEN FAMILY
Peter Henrick Nicholas VonAhnen was born in Ottendorf, German, October 23, 1849. He died April 9, 1911.
Henry was a pioneer of Adair County and helped to build the community of Fontanelle. He married Dorthea Maria Sophie Flinker on March 25, 1877. Dorothea was born in Meckenberg Schwerin, Germany, November 29, 1884. She died August 4, 1907.
Henry came to America at the age of 25 and settled in Fontanelle. Dorothea came to America in 1873. After coming to America, Henry dropped the "von" from his name.
Henry and Dorthea had ten children, three of whom died in infancy. The remaining children were Carolina Henrietta "Lena" married to John Timmons, William August, Charles Christian, Henry Arndt, George Henry, Louie Fredrick, and Marie Mathilda "Mary" who married Walter Hyda.
Henry farmed nine and one-half miles southwest of Fontanelle.
Louie remained on the farm after his father's death.
Note: There seems to be an error concerning Dorthea's birth date and marriage date.
