Blairstown Young Folks Married December 31st
A recent marriage of interest to the community was that of Miss Grace Haines and Mervin C. Wood, which took place on Wednesday, December 31st, at high noon, at the Methodist parsonage in Marengo, Dr. A. B. Cadwell, pastor of the Methodist church read the marriage service in the presence of the bride's father and sister, John Haines and Mrs. Earl Garr of Belle Plaine, and the groom's mother, Mrs. B. H. Wood. After the ceremony the happy couple left immediately for the home of the bride's father.
The bride, who is the second daughter of John Haines, was born and grew to womanhood in this community. She has a pleasing personality and is well thought of by everyone and popular among her associates.
Since the death of her mother, she has been her father's housekeeper. She looked charming in her wedding gown of blue canton crepe.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Wood, is a native of Benton County and has spent a great part of his life in this vicinity. He has followed farming of most of his life. He is a world war veteran.
The young people went to housekeeping on the farm with the bride's father, who will make his home with them. Mr. Woods will take over the work of the farm.
They are receiving the congratulations of their many friends.
