A quiet wedding took place at the home of Rev. F. M. Goff Tuesday afternon which united Rutherford Peterson and Miss Fay Abernathy. The ceremony was performed at two o'clock by Rev. Mr. Goff and was witnessed by Mr. and Frs. Frank Blocher of southwest of Vinton. Later the wedding party enjoyed a dinner. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Abernathy and has been a resident of Vinton all her life. During the past three years she has been employed at the Iowa Telephone Co. exchange. She is popular with her associates and friends and is a young lady of many fine attributes. The groom is a son of Mrs. E. H. Peterson and grew to manhood on a farm near Vinton. He was one of the three brothers who served in the word war and served with the Rainbow Division and was in France eighteen months. He participated in a number of engagements and was wounded and also gassed. Since returning home he has been employed by the Hite Electric Co. He is a splendid young man and worthy of the utmost success. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson will go to housekeeping in rooms in the Herman Wood residence and the best wishes of their many friends are extended.
