Obituary for Harold G. Wardenburg
Harold G. Wardenburg, 65, of Tempe, Arizona, formerly of Blairstown, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007, at his home in Tempe following a short illness with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, July 2, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Reverend Jonathan Offt officiating. Public visitation will be held at the church Sunday, July 1, from 2 to 4 PM and also one hour prior to services Monday. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Harold was born March 25, 1942, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Gilbert August and Norma Schultz Wardenburg. He married Connie Hoyt on September 19, 1964, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Harold owned and operated Harold’s Amoco in Blairstown for 26 years. Following his retirement, Harold and Connie moved to Tempe, where they have been residents since 1996. He was a member of the Blairstown Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. His hobbies included flying, cars, racing and history. Harold is survived by his wife Connie of Tempe, AZ; one son, Mike (Susan) Wardenburg of Cedar Rapids, IA; one daughter, Dee (John) Rich of Chandler, AZ; two sisters: Carol (Butch) Brunssen of Keystone, IA, and Colleen (David) Eckhart of North English, IA; and four grandchildren: Grant and Eric Wardenburg and Mason and Zoey Rich. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
