P.N. Paulsen of Van Horne, one of the best known citizens of the south slope, died at 5:30 Saturday afternoon, aged 71. For twenty-five years Mr. Paulsen had been engaged in the hardware business at Van Horne, and was at his place of business daily until about a week ago when illness compelled him to relinquish his work. The cause of his death was diabetes.
Mr. Paulsen was born in Germany May 30, 1863 and came to America in 1880, locating in Benton county upon his arrival. About 50 years ago he was married to Miss Clara Selken a sister of Louise and Emil Selken and Mrs. Claus Koepke of Keystone. He is survived by his widow, eight children and twenty-six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church at Van Horne Tuesday afternoon and were attended by a number of relatives and friends from this community. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery near Newhall.
