Anna Patton
It pains the Guide to chronicle the death of Mrs. Anna Patton, cause, old age. Mrs. Patton was born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania., 1806 and died August 15th, 1889, aged 82 years. 8 mos. 17 days. She moved to Iowa in 1856 and lived there until about five years ago when she came to this state and lived with her only daughter, Mrs. H.E. Christy, until she passed away. She was a devoted Christian having joined the Christian Church at the age of 21, and living a member of that until her removal to Iowa where no church of her kind was she joined the Dunkard's and lived a member of that church to her end. She was the mother of eight children, three dead, five living. She also leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Elder D.T. Hughes. The remains were interred in the Sunny Side Cemetery, followed by a large concourse of friends to pay their last respects to the remains of ounce a kind neighbor and a loving mother.
{Submitter comment: Anna Hull Patton was my husband's 2nd great grandmother. Anna was married to Thomas Patton. She was the mother of Allan, Christie, Sylvester, Elizabeth, and Seth. Thomas died 28 January 1884 and is buried in Carlisle Grove Cemetery in Benton County. Seth Patton is buried also in Benton County. The Patton family moved to Benton County in 1856 from Mercer County, Pennsylvania.}
