Florence Nabholz
Florence E. Nabholz, 84 resident of The Meth-Wick community, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Shellsburg, died Sunday morning Sept 18, 1994, in St. Lukes Hospital. Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Grace Trinity Church Burial: Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call ... at Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton, where an Order of Eastern Star service begins at 6:30 p.m. The Revs. Bob Dennert of The Meth-Wick Community and Greg Judy of Grace Trinity Church will offciate.
Survivors include three daughters, Vivian Smith of Council Bluff, Bonnie Marshe of Farmington, N.M. and Ann Holt of Marion; and two sisters Lillian Keffer of Iowa City and Elva Jordan of Tipton.
Also survivng are two sons-in-law, Earl Smith and Jim Holt: five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Jordan.
Jay W. Nabholz
Shellsburg-Jay W. Nabholz, 83 died Monday morning, May 8, 1989, at Virginia Gay Annex, in Vinton, where he had been a patient the past four months. He was born on the farm in Benton Township of Benton County where he had lived all of his life, to John George and Molly (Wilt) Nabholz. June 12, 1934, he married Florence E. Staub at her parents' home in Tipton Iowa.
As an active Benton county farmer, Mr. Nabholz served as Benton Township Accesors for 16 years, and served as secretary on the Farmers Mutual Telephone Board in Shellsburg for 36 years. He was a member of Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg and the Benton City Masonic Lodge No. 81, A.F. & A.M. of Shellsburg for 50 years having served as past Master and as MI and DI. He was also a member of the El Kahir Shrine & Scottish Rite Consistory of Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Florence of Shellsburg; three daughters, Vivian Eileen (Mrs. Earl Smith) of council Bluffs, Bonnie Jean (Mrs. Frederic) Marshe of Jacsonville Beach, Fl, and Ann Thimmesch of West Burlington; and five grandchildren, David and Mark Smith, and Matthew, Jenna and Jayne Thimmesch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Orvie and Ray Nabholz; and one sister, Mamie Nabholz Fish.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11 at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Gary Gustafson, church pastor, and Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.

OAK GROVE WOMAN CLAIMED BY DEATH
Sarah Ann Nabholz
Mrs. Paul Nabholz, the mother of Mrs. Price Smouse of this city, died at her home north of Shellsburg Tuesday night at the age of 69 years. Her illness was of short duration and her death comes as a distinct shock to her family and friends.
The funeral was held this morning at the Oak Grove Church of which deceased had been a member many years. The services were at 11:00 o’clock. Burial was in the Shellsburg cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Nabholz celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last July when all their family was at home for a number of days. Mrs. Nabholz was the mother of ten children all of who with the husband survive her. During her last illness all the sons and daughters with the exception of two who reside in Canada, were with the mother and at her bedside when the end came.
The Nabholz family has a remarkable record as there has never been a death among the children and only one grandchild has been taken. Mrs. Nabholz was a good woman. Her interest were centered in her home and children but she was always ready and willing to do for others as needed of her in alerting hand.
