Anderson Craig Moody
Anderson Craig Moody, a lifelong resident of Shellsburg and vicinity, died Thursday February 28 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.A. Bixby, at Hudson, Iowa. His death was due to pneumonia.
Mr. Moody was born at Shellsburg October 27, 1854. He grew to manhood there and gained his education in the Benton county schools. In 1881 he was married to Eliza McVey who is left to mourn, not the departure of a soul unsaved by the power of the Holy Spirit. To this union was born one daughter, Edith, now Mrs. C.A. Bixby, at whose home Mr. Moody died. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister; James, George, and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, all of Longmont, Colo and John and Mart, of Lamont, Okla.
In his young manhood Mr. Moody took the stand for Christ and the christian life, and had been a sincere Christian and loyal follower of his heavenly Master. He was of the Winebernarians, and ten years ago united with the Disciples of Christ in the Presbyterian church at Shellsburg.
A prayer service was held at the home of the daughter Saturday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. E. Ferguson Muir, pastor of the Baptist church at Hudson, and the remains were then taken to Shellsburg. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev, Geo Lindsey. Interment was in the Shellsburg Cemetery

Shellsburg. July 12-Following an illness of three years, Jay Hur Moody 63, died at his home in Shellsburg this morning. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Shellsburg Federated Church following a short prayer service at the Moody home...
Mr. Moody was born in Shellsburg May 11, 1880, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Moody. He was married here April 14, 1903 to Julia Fish, who with their three children, Ralph Moody, and Mrs. Marie Hamilton of Vinton of Vinton, and Claire at the naval training station at Farragut, Idaho survive. Two sisters Mrs. Jesse Perry and Mrs. Shirley Thompson of Shellsburg and nine grandchildren also survive. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Masonic Order. Mr. Moody had lived in Shellsburg all but 22 years of his life, moving from here during those years to Garrison. He was employed as a section foreman. }
