William J. Lapham
William J. Lapham, 88, died Wednesday night at the Williams rest home. He lived at the home about six years, but considered Vinton his home.
Mr. Lapham was born Dec. 8, 1876, on a farm south of Dysart and married Mary Barta at Elberon on Nov. 24, 1897. Mrs. Lapham died Sept. 22, 1956.
The deceased farmed northwest of Garrison until 1916, when the family moved to Vinton where he was in the windmill and plumbing business until he retired in 1953. He was a member of the Old German Baptist Church.
Surviving are four children Mrs. Inez Floyd of La Porte City, Mrs. A. D. (Frances) Abernathy of Gentry, Ark., George Lapham of Vinton and Mrs. Jim (Sylvia) Eastin of Homestead, Fla.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:30 p.m., at the Fry and Holland funeral home in Vinton. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
