Belle Plaine Union; Nov. 29, 1907
The Past Week One of Many Sad Fatalities
Katherine Kenaston

The death of Miss Katherine Kenaston, which was briefly chronicled in these columns last week, is one of those painful events which from time to time occur to sadden the community. Miss Kenaston was stricken in the bloom and flower of youth and many of her friends were unaware of her illness until apprised that she had been touched by the hand of death.

Katherine Kenaston was born in Dysart, Iowa, May 20,1887, and died in Belle Plaine, Iowa, Nov 21, 1907, after an illness of 6 days.

Katherine removed with her family to Tama, Iowa, Nov. 1900, and graduated from the High school at that place in 1904. She engaged in the occupation of teaching for about two years and, for the past few months, was in the employ of Mr. Anderson, in his store in Belle Plaine.

She was a member of the St. Cecilia Club, a musical organization of this city, and of the S. S. W. B., Girl’s club. She was also a member of tho choir and the Wesley Bible Class, in the first M. E. church in Belle Plaine; and a member on probation of the M. E. church in Tama.

She retained the use of her mental faculties in her last hours and, though suffering acutely, expressed her resignation to her approaching dissolution, and calmly committed herself to the care of her Divine Savior.

Two sisters died in childhood. Her father died Feb. 21, 1900.

Site leaves, to mourn her youthful demise, her mother, Mrs. Catharine Kenaston, of Belle Plaine; two brothers and four sisters, as follows: Mrs. Mary Bolei, of Rhodes, Iowa, M. H. Kenaston, of Jesup, Iowa, Mrs Stella McCarns, of Tama, Mrs. Olive Lawyer, of Dysart, Mrs. Myrtle Wolf, of Belle Plaine and Vilas S. Kenaston, of Mason City.

Religious services were held in the home of Mr. Ansel Wolf, where the deceased and her mother had made their home, on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2:00 p. m , conducted by Rev. L. L. Lockard, after which the body was borne to Tama, where additional services were held on Sunday, conducted by the Rev. A. T. Bishop.
