BEFORE beginning a Directory for Audubon county we carefully considered the magnitude of the task before us and carefully weighed the task of collecting the data and the benefit it would be to the patrons of the JOURNAL and believed it would be to our mutual benefit. The immense popularity it has attained and the liberal support it has received shows us to be right in our estimate. We realized at the outset that errors would creep in as a perfect volume of any character is beyond human possibilities; but we have made every effort to keep the errors to the minimum and believe patrons will find it reasonably correct.

Our solicitor has made a careful house to house canvas of the county but in not finding people at home has had to resort to finding data from friends and neighbors as time would not allow him to cover a territory twice and that particular bit of information might have been different.

Aside from the Directory of the residents of Audubon county we have given a brief history of the more important steps in our state and authentic tables that will be of interest to every family and most desirable information to have in every house.

We do not give it as a cheap premium, for the vast amount of work and cost of labor expended will show our patrons better, and we trust, hope and believe it will be of lasting good to the readers of the AUDUBON COUNTY JOURNAL.

Therefore, feeling confident that the people of Auduobn county are quick to realize merit we give our Directory into their hands, hoping and trusting it will afford pleasure and profit to all to whom it may come.
