~Contributor notes: The school children photois from my uncle John Kenney in California. My two older uncles were among the students and John estimates it to be taken about 1924 (since my father who was born in 1920 wasn't in the photo). The other is an undated photo of the school from my father's collection.

Research notes, added by S. Ferrall: The write-up for the marriage of Neva Waters to John Jaster was in the Postville Herald, June 1941. In part the article stated "....she was a member of the graduating class of 1938 of Postville high school and since then had been engaged in teaching in rural schools in Allamakee and Clayton counties, the past year being in charge of the Reif school, Grand Meadow township..."

What Happened to the Minert School House?
The Minert school house was purchased in 1953 by Marvin Flack and moved into Postville to a location on west Murdock street. Mr. Flack operated 'Flack Manufacturing Company' from the building. His company made oak slats for combines and windrowers. Mr. Flack previously had been in the shoe sales and repair business with his father-in-law, Glen Tindell. The business was still thriving as of 1975.
