Franklin No. 5, Volney School Section 13, Franklin twp., Village of Volney The Methodist church building in Volney was
used as a school-house about 1865, the schoolhouse being
built about 1877. By that time the church was in

until a new church was built in 1890. The school building

~~ 1933 On Friday afternoon Gregg Peters, teacher
of Volney school, brought the kittenball team to the Red
School, where a kittenball game took place that was very
interesting and exciting. Both teams were quite evenly
matched, but the Red School team was a little the best
and won the contest. |
1978 Reunion Sunday, Oct. 1st, was a perfect setting for a reunion
of former pupils of Franklin #5 School and members of the
Volney Church. A delicious potluck was served cafeteria
style at noon followed by a sing-a-long, prayers and
meditation led by Rev. Brown. Rev Curtis Webster, former
teacher at Volney, gave a talk on
"Reminiscing." The rest of the afternoon was
spent in visiting. |
