lot of fun on Tuesday, a real spring day, when they were
flying their kite during the recess period in the
morning. But the bell rang and the boys hastened to tie

15, 1942: Marion Krumme Wins Spelling Bee Waukon, Ia - Marion Krumme, 13, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Krumme, of Union Prairie township, won the
annual Allamakee Co. spelling contest here Saturday
afternoon, outspelling a field of 24 contestants. Marion
won the oral half of the contest, and then competed in a
spell-off with Phyllis Van Brocklin, also 13, winner of
the written half of the contest held at Waukon High
