Torfin Anvidson Land |
Torfin Anvidson
Hanover township Section 16, South west 1/4
Hanover township Section 9, East 1/2 South west 1/4
The land in section 9 is just south of the (current Milton Iverson farm) Torfin Anvidson moved there from Wisconsin between 1853 and 1855. Both Torfinn and wife Annie died in 1872.
In May of 1871 land was transferred to Ole Oleson and then to Anne Anvidson. We assume that Torfinn was in ill health and this was a means of transferring title.

-note: The family is shown in the 1860 and 1870 census. On the 1860 census the Post Office is listed as
New Galena (the old lead ore mining town) and in 1870 the Post Office is listed as Waukon, so the Post Office and probably the town of New Galena closed in the intervening years.
